Artfully and respectfully built park in memory of the thousands of mariners lost in the battle of Jutland in 1916. Somber and powerful in its simplicity, a large piece of rough granite to represent each ship that was lost, marked with the name and number of crew lost. Each surrounded by faceless figures to visualise the losses.

Wir haben diese Gedenkstätte eher zufällig entdeckt. Man sollte sie aber unbedingt besuchen, wenn man in der Nähe ist. Kostenlose Parkplätze stehen zur Verfügung und hier befindet sich u.a. auch das Aquarium und das Sea War Museum. INFO: Die größte Seeschlacht der Welt fand am 31. Mai 1916 während des Ersten Weltkriegs hier statt. Mehr als 240 Kriegsschiffe waren Teil dieses Showdowns zwischen englischen und deutschen Seestreitkräften. An nur einem Tag fielen 25 Schiffe mit fast 9.000 toten britischen und deutschen Marinesoldaten dem Kampf zum Opfer. Jedes dieser \Steinsegel\ symbolisiert ein Schiff und seine Toten.
