Incredible to visit the Viking meeting and see al the great things they sell on the market and the battles on the field and in the forest. Most items are hand made and also some of the food is made in a traditional way like the delicious lamb. We will be back next year for sure.
It been an extraordinary experience! I made a better idea of the Vikings life.
Always great day. Love the food and the entire set up. A bit pricey but good.
The Viking market has grown over the years - both in size and quality. There are dozens of Viking groups from all over Europe participating in the show battles, the food and drink is of very high quality, and the goods for sale in the many (!) small stands come in all kinds of quality and prices. Personally I enjoy the mead tastings, the music, the great craft beer and the silver jewelry from England and Sweden. I always end up buying a few things for my self or as gifts. If you have any interest in Viking history, or you are introducing out-of-town guests to Århus (or Denmark in general), this is an absolutely wonderful opportunity to chat to enthusiasts about our heritage, archeology, craftsmanship, traditions etc. etc. My warmest recommendations and thanks to the many, many volunteers who make this market an absolute success, year after year!
This is the unofficial world championship of Viking fighting. What is not to love about that? Also a lot of Viking crafts, traders and horses.
We were there for the viking fair and it was great. The battle was awesome to watch.
