Although this is a piece of Danish History not advocated on a major scale. The statue made of cheap materials speaks to the respect they have of the Queen legacy. The Artist could have done it correctly, with all the sculptures throughout the Capital of Denmark (Metal), to construct a sculpture of Styrofoam is insulting. Perhaps they can ask the Queen of Denmark for money, the population pays enough taxes for her and family to live a lavish life!

Impressive sculpture just a short walk from the Amalienborg. I fully recommend for all women and special if you are interested in arts and in the history of the world.

This is only a prototype of a statue. It's made out of styrofoam. The tool in her right hand just broke off. So now you can clearly see that she is made of cheap materials. There has been discussions about the need to honor black and females. I think this is a good voice in this discussion.

Without the story behind there isn't much to see. I hope they will soon find the actual sculpture.

Denmark's first statue of a black woman, entitled “I am Queen Mary”, celebrates Mary Thomas, a 19th-century rebel who led the largest labour revolt in Danish colonial history, by Danish artist Jeannette Ehlers and Virgin Islander artist La Vaughn Belle #womensart @womensaert1
