Finally visited the place in July 2020 and its a UNESCO Heritage landmark in Jelling, Vejle Denmark. Very interesting to know how Denmark was born more than 1000 years ago. Jelling burial mounds and one of the runic stones are striking examples of pagan Nordic culture, while the other runic stone. As I lived in Denmark, I'm glad I have visited the place and learned the history behind it. I like the place because it a piece of interesting history about the Denmark. The place is like an outdoor museum. Amazing how the stone preserved until now which commemorating the introduction of Christianity, and the emergence of the church representing Christian predominance. A must place to visit in Denmark.

Nice place
Really interesting! The museum is very creative and interactive and the area outside is nice to walk around and look at. While we were there a short guided tour was being held in the early afternoon which showed where current a excavation is being done. It's fascinating to learn about the history being unfolded today.
A nice historical place. With the old kings own stairs (please don't use them). Use the stairs next to the church. Visit the musseum on the opposite of the street too - entrance is free.
The burial ground is small, but interesting for its history of Denmark. It has free entrance as well as the museum that explain the history in a interactive way. It is all about the barrows, Harold Bluetooth and the first written history of Denmark and the conversion of the ancient Nordic gods to Christianity. The area consist of the two hills, the church, the tiles that marks the ship setting and the palisade which used to surround the area which is now marked with the white pipes and the path. And probably most importantly, the two stones! You can visit the site in about an hour or two. Or less if you skip the museum.
Amazing history in a pleasant spot, with a nicely done museum.
A great way to spend 2-3 hours, wandering around the monuments, church and free museum. Everything is really well looked after and the museum is very interesting. A must visit for anyone interested in a bit of Danish history.
One of the most important historic places in Denmark. Don't miss out on the free museum across the road. Also take a walk around the scenery and see if all from different angels. The history of the stones are very interesting, and really should be studied prior to coming to get the real historic feel. A bunch of good options to get a bite to eat next to the place and in the museum as well. Fairly easy parking. Should not a be a problem off season.
