Great museum. The fossils from the eocene mo clay (55 million years old) are outstanding!! World class fossils include large fish, turtles, birds, insects and fossil wood. There are also an archaeological exhibition and an old farmhouse near the museum telling about the history of the island. The museum is a must to see if you visit the island of Fur. Very very friendly staff. There are a nice souvenir shop there with books fossils and minerals.

Good information to know about fur and how the geology was.
Nice museum and collectuon and cool fossil hunting tour. They could however vastly improve their appeal to foreigners by having English descriptions under the Danish ones.
Inetresting but Old, needs an update.
Interesting exhibition
Main hall consists of clay preserved fossils. Parts of whales, an almost intact seaturtle, small to large fish and a tree. All displayed in a long hallway-system, guided tours optional thoug mainly danish but frequent. The system ends in an open area with some play things and a "science section" (lacking), this area has the best part of the museum which is pretty unique with old wagons, horse Staples and a "perseved" old time home from the island.
Ok
