You may want to avoid this place if you aren’t a local. My fiancé and I stopped in here on our trip to Denmark (we are from the US), and were greeted by patrons that stared at us condescendingly, and an extremely rude bartender. I politely bought a beer at the bar (and was planning to buy a couple more) and then quietly sat at a table. My fiancé came in a few minutes later with an energy drink (because he rarely drinks alcohol) and some food from nearby (we were starving and the bar doesn’t serve food). The bartender yelled to my fiancé, from across the bar, that his energy drink wasn’t allowed there (note: the bar doesn’t sell energy drinks). A few minutes later he approached our table and told us we were supposed to ask his permission to bring food into the establishment, and then he asked us to leave. What’s odd is that I specifically asked the food shop if we were allowed to bring the food into that bar, and we were assured that it was fine (the cook even offered to bring it over there for us, which we declined, because we didn’t want to inconvenience him). When I informed the bartender of this misunderstanding, he said he doesn’t care what the cook said, because I was supposed to ask him for permission. Problem #1 with this place: non-alcohol consumers, such as my fiancé, are treated like subhumans, as though they aren’t familiar with the concept of a designated driver. Problem #2: we did our research on Denmark before going, and there was absolutely nothing that said food cannot be brought into bars that don’t serve food (even typing this sounds ridiculous). I’m not certain why this bartender thinks this is common knowledge around the world.
