It's a bit of a walk (if that's not your thing), and on a busy day it's a battle to park. But it's a nice walk and a great view. The castle isn't much to look at but it's certainly a great place for a walk in the fresh air (maybe more for a family walk than for history buffs). Interesting and it's just a ruin, so you can do whatever you want there, picnic, hang out etc.

Great walk on stones to the castle. Fantastic view in all directions. Impressive castle and 700 year old history.

The beautiful place with atmosphere of history and nature. The Castle's ruins framed in the amazing landscape. You can enjoy it by staying downstairs or upstairs - at the top of ruins. This Castle ruins are very unusual Danish historical object. I really recommend to visit it. Some practical information. The Google maps show me that I need to swim to reach this destination. Some people wrote in their reviews, that I should go 1,5 hours just for one way! That's why I postponed my trip so many times - just because of incorrect information... You need to drive close to Kalø Castle Cafe for parking your car. After that you have to go straight - approximately 1,3 - 1,5 km walking tour. There are stones most of the way, it takes approximately 15-25 minutes by one way (depends of your tempo).

It's a ruin. Of a castle. Nice walk to get there.

If you are up for a long walk, this is a really nice place to visit, but be sure to bring water. There is a small restaurant at the beginning of the trail so you can buy from there. The road to the ruin is old and made out of big rocks so be careful if you bring strollers and wear comfortable shoes. You can't drive to the actual ruin, but they have a free parking lot. All in all, it takes about 1 hour and 30 min to walk to the castle, visit it and walk back.

Awesome place, again surprised by Danish architecture where they put glass and modern looks into old, brick \buildings\. Great place for resting, beautiful surroundings, nice walk from the parking lot to the castle.
