Great little museum. Plenty of different things for everyone to find something to interest them. I like the way you walk around in a timeline way.

You MUST go there! It is fairly easy to get there from Copenhagen by train (great train services) and from the train station, it is a nice walk of about 20 minutes (you'll have to cross a nice park and then go through a residential area). The gift shop is amazing (could not resist) and I do recommend a tour with a guide. Next to the museum, you will see in Summer some workshops for kids and... adults! All related to the Vikings. Also, you will have many places to have a bit, or just a drink. I had the BEST beer ever there, from a local microbrewery (see the pic). I LOVE that place and I will return for sure next time I go to Copenhagen!

Small city, important history, great museum to talk about all this. We were positively surprised by this museum.

The museum focusses on prehistory and medieval epoch. Other periods are highlighted in glimpses. - For my taste too much audio effects to make an impression. I wasn't drowned by an avalanche of information and came out of the museum with a comprehensive understanding of the history of Roskilde.

A very impressive gattering of sunk boat but I'd not say the guided visit is worth the price. Go and read around you'll learn most of the information they actually have on the subject

A small and very well curated museum. There is extensive information in Danish and English. The exhibits are often quite touching (for example, the children's toys) and the view of life in the middle ages is quite realistic. The ceramic collection was an unexpected and very pleasant surprise.
