My favourite library and possibly public building in Copenhagen. The architecture, the glass facade, the industrial interior design, the amazing views of the canals, the lovely summer loungers in the back side of it, facing the canals... Are just a small piece of the true experience one could expect having during his/her visit. There are even stairs (accessible from the outside the building) which are a great starting point to see Copenhagen from rather high place. The library itself is located in the old building connected with a covered indoors glass bridge starting in the new building. The amazing combination of the preserved old design with the newly built connected glass building make the Royal Library possibly one of the most amazing architectural pieces in whole Scandinavia! Free of charge and serving some delicious cakes and sandwiches in their cafe located on ground level. Clean (and many) toilets located also on ground level. An amazing place to meet with friends, write your thesis, or just sit and rest in peace, because this is a very well visited place, but surprisingly not a noisy one.

Amazing place! You can have a space for a quite reading, group work or even just having a coffee. In the 0 floor you have the cafeteria and the shop with nice souvenirs and some book to buy. The reading rooms are very comfortable and quite. You have printers and some computers to make the print. I loved it!

Beautiful old library. Beautiful concept integrated to one from old architecture to a modern one. Great view to the water.

This is an amazing building, just so modernist and edge. But we went for the Nick Cave exhibition, that was simply brilliant. Such a great space to house this in. So pleased we were in Copenhagen the same time as this. Highly recommended.

Because of Covid the capacity of the library decreased. You will not have nice spot to read and study. Therefore you need to avoid the normal working times.

Amazing place, there’s also a bar (with discounted student menu) and a canteen (student menu at lunch 42DKK)

A really nice library architecturally both from the outside and inside. Locally known as the Black Diamond, this is really a diamond for the Copenhagen Architecture scene in my view. A really beautiful building especially on Nice sunset days when the sparkling water reflects in the windows. Go inside a well. It's free and the atrium looking out over the water is awesome. The old library area is also nice to walk into. Just be quiet as it is a working library.
