Amazing old oak tree in the middle of the Princess path (princessestien)... The 800 years old oak tree (protected in 1956) honors the german poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724-1803). Nature experiences around Lyngby inspired Klopstock to several Odes, f.eks “Die Frühlingsfeier” and some tells he liked to run a race to that big old oak tree. Klopstock lived and worked 20 years in Denmark (1751-1771) and had his summer residence near Lyngby. He was invited by Frederik V. of Denmark and was sponsored with an annuity of 400 thalers to complete the epic poem “The Messiah”, which is his best-known work, published in 1773. Klopstock got great significance on the Danish poet Johannes Ewald (1743-1781) and the nature poetry of European romanticism.

Greta part of the city's outskirts. Nice lakes and woods to wander around for some time and chill.
