Very interesting place to spend a few hours. It has amazing history and when one understands it, will definitely appreciate the structure and condition this old castle is in. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. If you love architecture and history you should not miss this castle turned museum!

Loved the restoration and storytelling by modern day architects about how they recreated the history of the Koldinghus! Simply mind-blowing! Tip: Arrive early, you need a lot of time to explore the Danish history represented in this place.

Very impressive museum in a restored medieval castle. Spent about 3 hours here for 110 dkk and worth it. Can explore almost the entire castle at your own leisure and virtually all curation is in Danish, German and English. Restoration has been done in a way that respects the original but uses modern architectural design to highlight what is left of the original castle that burnt down 200 years ago. Some fun activities for kids mixed in. Impressive views of the surrounding town from throughout although when we were there the weather was terrible. Recommend coming not in winter to really get the most out of it.
