I called on Tuesday to book a place on a tour on Friday. The Icelandic horses are superfriendly and relaxed, so this tour is enjoyable for people who know how to ride and also for beginners. Helmets are available for borrowing. We met with the owner/tour guide Rolf around 11am and after assessing everyone’s knowledge of riding, we gathered the horses from the field, then brushed them/cleaned hooves, and then either bridled/saddled the horses ourselves or had help from Rolf. We took everything slowly and there was enough time to get familiar with the horse before riding. The actual tour then started around 12pm and we went for an hour through fields and forests, on wide paths or on narrow trails, also with climbing up and down hills - the horses are really calm and surefooted. We trotted, tolted and galopped - beginners do not need to be afraid because the horses always stick together and stop running as soon as the first horse does - just hold on to the horse‘s mane if you are unsure, or enjoy the beautiful different paces of the Icelandic horse. The tour is definitely more for a slow, relaxed viewing of the photogenic countryside than for very advanced riders. After we were back, we brought the horses back to the field and took saddles/bridles back to their places. All done at 1:30pm. The price for this was 350 DKK or 50 (payable in both currencies), and it was a lovely experience that my untrained legs still remember the day after ;)

An extraordinary nature experience! The whole experience takes just under 2 hours. Wear long pants to avoid burns on your inner thigh. The horses are very calm and will follow each other without too many issues aside from a few green snacks along the way ;) The price is currently (July 2018) 190 DKK for an hours worth of riding. Be sure to go to Sletterhage afterwards which is only 10 minutes away. Rolf and Hanne have a great thing here which is highly recommended.

Dejlige positive mennesker, med stor forståelse for en nervøs rytter som mig - og rigtig god støtte til at give mig ro og tryghed. Sunde dejlige rolige heste - og FABELAGTIG natur..
