It takes abut one hour by the ferry to get you from Kalundborg to Ballen or vice versa. I bought tickets on-line a couple of days before. You can stay outsede and enjoy the sun and the view or sit inside. There are plenty of spaces, even a silent working area. There is a restaurant serving typical Danish sandwiches and coffee and cakes.
