A nice place for kids and adults. The Vikingecenter Fyrkat consists of the historic ringfort Fyrkat and the Viking Farmstead, which is 9 reconstructed houses, that together constitute a large Viking property. In the farmstead there are playgrounds, activities for childrens and an exhibition. You can reach the ringfort with a short 15 min walk.

Really good hands on story telling from the knowledgable staff. Makes a big difference when you feel the weight of a chain mail or see how people developed and adapted their clothes, homes and weapons. Well worth a visit. The original archaeological finds can only be seen in the museum in Hobro.

Viking Center Fyrkat is a beautifully located reconstruction of Viking Age settlement consist of several long houses. In every house includes equipment which was based on the finds from 9th to 10th centuries. One long hose is dedicated to the presentation of Viking Age female and male clothing. About 2 km from the Viking Center Fyrkat is located Viking ring fortress. In my opinion reconstruction of Viking Age long house of Trelleborg-type, remains of cemetery and reconstructed ring fortress are very impressive. Complex in Fyrkat is a perfect place to walk and to learn more about Viking Age. It is worth noting that students and PhD of archaeology have free admission to the Viking Center Fyrkat, Viking ring fortress and Museum in Hobro.

From the ladies dieing fiber in a pot on an open flame with a special beetle for color to the man working on leather who spoke longingly about Valhalla this is a special place to observe history.
