Small but fine... The old fire station house was erected under Ferdinand Meldahl's (1827-1908) extension of Charlottenlund Palace in 1882. In the small fire house the fire extinguishing equipment for the palace was stored, such as a horse-drawn manual fire engine, buckets, water barrels, fire hooks and other specialized equipment. After Frederik VIII dead, Queen Louise still lived in the Palace during the summer - until her death in 1926. In this time the meadow below Charlottenlund Beach Park was called the Queen's \vegetable garden\ and the old fire station was used for storing vegetables. Today it is converted into a one room museum that showcases 19th century firefighting equipment.
