There is one Magasin shopping center in every big city in Denmark. Magasin is not only popular for its brandy clothes and shoes, but also for some amazing discounts of the same, twice a year. Yeps, prices can go down to -90% if you visit in June or January. This Magasin has a very sweet little cafe located on the ground level which happens to sell some delicious food as well. Located in the heart of Aarhus, Magasin is one of the main meeting points of the students in Aarhus (known as one of the 3 student cities in Denmark).

Out of the two major department stores in Aarhus, Magasin has historically been considered the \up-market\ store, where as Salling was the \people's store\. Today, service, knowledgeable staff and value for money no longer seem to exist at Magasin. Where Magasin in the past was only Magasin, with loads of own brand products and a high quality food department (almost a destination in its own right), it has not only closed the food department but also converted the majority of the store in to \shops-in-shops\, staffed with low payed student helpers who hardly have any idea about what they are expediting (not selling). Magasin has in short changed from a \great shopping experience\ to an \ only if I have to\ shopping location!

Magasin used to be the upmarket department store of Aarhus, with a destingt level of service and very knowledgeable staff, selling a combination of high quality brands and there high quality own brand products, as well as having an almost delicatessen like supermarket and wine and liquor merchant. Unfortunately the food and drinks departments are closed down, most departments turned in to \shops-in-shops\, staff are predominantly student helpers and very few and fare between! Today they have been overtaken completely by Salling - the other full service department store in town - brands are at least as great, staff is more plentiful, more knowledgeable and more service minded, there is an excellent high quality supermarket with specialised cheese-, fish- and fresh meat delicatessen, excellent wine, liquor and bear department, great roof top restaurant and fantastic dinner transportable.

Nice place for shopping.. but expensive despite of seasonal discounts. Overall good experience.

The shop seems to always be crowded - which is not necessarily a bad thing, but they don't seem to have the facilities to accommodate that (such as enough toilets). The service was really bad in the beauty department- getting no acknowledgement from staff even when standing there for 5 minutes and asking the sales assistant twice to come and help me with a product - the girls being busy arranging some stuff in a drawer. (all this happened on the Bobbi Brown counter)

A good place to shop. Not giving it 5 stars for the lack of variety, I feel like there are other shopping centres with more options to shop. The location is great though!
